Japanese Go Crazy for Light-Up Smiles

Wearing gold fronts and jewels in your teeth is so Aughts. The 2010s call for a thoroughly more modern oral adornment. Enter Japanese fashion designers Mr. Ishibashi and Daito Manabe, who have created LED inserts that are worn behind the teeth. The light-up smiles are now being used as part of a marketing push by Laforet Harajuku, a popular department store in Tokyo, and are becoming a much sough-after accessory. The lights can be controlled wirelessly by a computer, and can be made to change colors or blink. Will they become the new must-have accessory for scenesters here in the U.S.? Check out the videos after the break, including one that follows a gang of school girls wandering the streets, looking a bit like they're on the hunt for souls to harvest. We're both intrigued and terrified.
