Swedish Street Artist Constructs Rainbow-Painting Robot

Geeks, tinkerers and amateur engineers obviously love Rube Goldberg devices, those overly complicated, ridiculous contraptions that accomplish mundane, everyday tasks. Akay, a Swedish street artist, has assembled one impressively complex technical apparatus that both defiles and brightens the urban landscape with a single and (seemingly) simple swoosh.

Using a bicycle and a diverse array of components, Akay constructed a mobile "Instrument of Mass Destruction," or, as he has called it, the 'Robo-Rainbow.' The mobile, self-powered graffiti-bot employs a swinging arm -- with spray paint cans attached -- to produce a symmetrical rainbow arc. Some observers don't appreciate the aesthetic value of street art, but there's at least one guy who must certainly be enthralled with this device. Although, he might just scoff -- since it does produce a mere single spectrum.
