Hackers Storm Medical Server -- In Order to Play 'Call of Duty'

'call of duty'Back in November, a group of hackers broke into a New Hampshire medical sever hosting 230,000 patient records, but the data itself was apparently just a collateral-damage afterthought. According to the Register, the ne'er-do-wells breached the Seacoast Radiology server in order to appropriate its bandwidth capabilities for playing 'Call of Duty.'

Although the server housed names, Social Security numbers, medical diagnosis codes, addresses and other specific personal data, it seems that the hackers didn't put the information to any use. After administrators noticed the loss in bandwidth, investigators determined the vulnerability, patched it, and alerted the Department of Health and Human Services. And, for those curious about which 'COD' title inspired the assault, it was -- more than appropriately -- 'Black Ops.'
