Putin Orders Government to Go Open Source

The document, "Transition Plan of the Federal Authorities and Federal Budgetary Institutions to Free Software," doesn't mark the first time that Russian authorities have suggested a move to open source, but previous efforts have stalled due to a lack of political support. But, with Putin signing off on the plan, there is a much better chance that government employees and ministers will move it swiftly into action.

Robots Now Teach English in South Korean Schools

On Monday, the city unleashed an army of 29 robot English teachers, designed by the Korea Institute of Science of Technology. The 'bots conducted classes across 21 elementary schools, as part of a pilot program designed to experiment with cheaper educational practices, while stimulating the country's robotics industry.
