Amid Bloodshed, Bahrain Reportedly Blocks Internet Access

Bahraini worshippers
Having apparently not learned much from Mubarak's ouster in Egypt, the government of Bahrain may now be restricting access to the Internet, due to ongoing protests. Massachusetts-based Arbor Networks says it has seen a 10- to 20-percent drop in Web traffic into and out of the country, suggesting that Bahrain is blocking sites. It did note that the dip could be due to technical issues with the country's carriers. But, considering the government's ruthless and deadly crackdown against the demonstrators, would an Internet throttle be so unexpected?
